On December 14, 2024, four UNESCO Hong Kong Association Green Citizen Youth Ambassadors (GCYA) held a sharing session on their experience of participating in the “International Assembly of Youth for UNESCO 2024” held in Puerto Princesa City, Philippines.
Guests from different disciplines, including professionals, teachers, and students, discussed the important role of international cultural exchanges and collaboration in promoting sustainable development. Youth ambassadors shared their insights learnt from the sustainable development projects implemented by delegates from other countries and the local practice of sustainable ecotourism and discussed how these could apply to Hong Kong.

Dr. Samson Ma, Vice President of the World Institute of Sustainable Development Planners (WISDP), attended the event and provided guidance. Dr. Ma emphasised that with the rapid development of innovative technologies and artificial intelligence, young people’s innovative application capabilities are crucial. By sponsoring youth ambassadors to attend the conference, the WISDP hopes to give young people more opportunities to share and learn from the best practices of sustainable development solutions on international platforms.

Guests attending this sharing session, including Certified Sustainable Development Planners (CSDP) of the WISDP, students and teachers from Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Kwok Yat Wai College, teachers from Islamic Kasim Tuet Memorial College, and other guests, actively interacted with GCYA. Through cross-age, cross-disciplinary, and cross-industry communication, the sharing session promoted the collision of diverse thinking and created new opportunities on the path towards sustainable development.
