4.22 International Mother Earth Day

On April 22, 2022, the UN International Mother Earth Day, the Hong Kong Eco Action Forum co-organized by UNESCO HongKong Association and the Hong Kong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development was held successfully in both online and onsite, broadcasted live on Facebook simultaneously, attracting hundreds of people from all over the world, all walks of life and of all ages to celebrate International Mother Earth Day and to learn about the eco actions taken by Hong Kong businesses, schools and the youth.

On the UN International Mother Earth Day 2022, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, made it clear in his speech that the planet is facing a triple planetary crisis: Climate disruption, Nature and biodiversity loss, Pollution and waste. At the same time, he also emphasized that there is still hope, together, we can tackle monumental challenges.

“2022 International Mother Earth Day – Hong Kong Eco-Action Forum” response to the “Hong Kong Climate Action Plan 2050”. The forum aims to promote schools, youth, enterprises and the general public to actively participate in the transformation towards carbon neutrality, and to protect our Mother Earth. The event is an accredited event celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and is published on ACT4SDGs and other UN platforms for sustainable development.
