2025 Secondary School Model UNESCO Conference – Student Coordinator Training Successfully Held

From March 22 to 23, 2025, the Model UNESCO Student Coordinator Training, jointly organised by the UNESCO Hong Kong Association and the Hong Kong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development, was successfully completed. 160 students from Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Cambodia, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Fujian, and other regions attended the training.

The training aims to equip students with cross-disciplinary skills necessary for participating in MUNESCO conferences, including negotiation, public speaking, critical thinking, and more. It also encouraged students to initiate MUNESCO clubs and organise related activities at their schools, spreading the values of respect, diversity, and collaboration promoted by MUNESCO.

The training covered a wide range of topics, including the functions and core missions of the United Nations and UNESCO, the operational procedures of Model UNESCO, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, drafting background documents, drafting resolutions, and strategic negotiation skills.

Experienced Instructor Team:

The training was led by experienced instructors with extensive expertise in Model UNESCO and Model United Nations, including:

 

* Ms. Assem Sarsenaliyeva, Coordinator of the Third International UNESCO Model hosted by the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations

* Ms. Americana Chen, Youth Affairs Coordinator of

UNESCO Hong Kong Association, Winner of the Best Delegation of the First and Second International Model UNESCO Conference

* The City University of Hong Kong Model United Nations Team

* The UNESCO Hong Kong Association Green Citizen Youth Ambassadors Team

Positive Feedback from Participants:

According to the feedback survey, 92% of the participants agreed or strongly agreed that the training broadened their international perspectives, while 96% felt they had ample opportunities to speak, interact, and ask questions during the sessions. Participants generally expressed that the training not only enhanced their skills but also ignited their passion for international affairs.
