"Youth Prospect on the use of AI in Education" published on the 2024 United Nations International Youth Day

On the occasion of the 2024 United Nations International Youth Day with the theme “Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,”  the UNESCO Hong Kong Association (UHKA) is proud to present the “Youth Prospect on the Use of AI in Education” (the “Youth Prospect”).

The Youth Prospect was drafted by youth delegates participating in the “2024 Secondary School Model UNESCO (MUNESCO) International Conference—Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Education,” which was held in Hong Kong in July 2024. During the conference, youth delegations from around the globe united in Hong Kong to explore, compromise, and integrate their strategic recommendations for the integration of AI into education.

The Youth Prospect aims to present youth’s voice on the future of AI and education on international, national, and local platforms, as well as being a valuable reference point for local educational policy development. Based on the clauses drafted by youth delegates, the chair committee and the UHKA Green Citizens Youth Ambassadors made further research and analysis and organised the Youth Prospect into 8 general operative clauses and 21 operative clauses that are specifically applicable to the educational system in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Regions of China but could also be extended to be referred by international stakeholders.

With the Youth Prospect, the UHKA hopes to contribute to the core objectives of the International Youth Day, align our actions with international, national and local effort, to empower youths, and provide platforms for youths to be engaged in the future of education and the promotion of sustainable development goals.
