U8 was initiated by UNESCO Associations in eight different provinces in China. The first “U8 Exchange Programme” was launched in April 2010. Since the launch of the programme, we have seen an increasing number of participating organizations and institutions from more provinces and cities. Currently there are mainly 11 provinces and cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Gansu, Jilin, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Shenyang, Suzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong.
