We are deeply saddened to hear that Mr. Dhirendra Bhatnagar, the President of World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations (WFUCA), have passed away on 17 May 2020 in a hospital at New Delhi of India.

Mr. Bhatnagar have had a long-lasting relationship with UNESCO Hong Kong Association (“UHKA”) and Hong Kong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development (“HiESD”). He had also contributed to the cultural exchanges between teenagers in China and India.

Mr. Bhatnagar initiated the friendly exchanges between the youth in 2015, and actively supported the peace celebrations in Hong Kong from 2016 to 2018. In September 2018, WUFCA was invited by the President of Chinese National Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations – Prof. Tao , to hold the executive committee’s exchange conference at HiESD. The executive board members from the five continents have also participate in the celebration of International Day of Peace and cultural activities organized by HiESD on the 21st of September.

Mr. Bhatnagar and Professor Tao Xiping passed away one after another, which was a huge loss for UNESCO Associations. May their souls rest in peace and we wish the successful development of all NGOs of UNESCO in every country and region in the future.
