The 2025 Secondary School Model UNESCO (MUNESCO) International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Cities—Hong Kong Greater Bay Area Conference successfully concluded on July 6, 2025. 112 students excelled from nearly 800 students participating in the preliminary selection and represented 56 countries to negotiate and propose solutions for smart and sustainable urban development.
Centring on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), the event explored the theme of "Smart and Sustainable Cities" through multiple perspectives including UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Cities, carbon neutrality and innovative energy solutions, civil engineering, urban planning, and local case studies from Hong Kong. The over 400 enthusiastic participants from around the globe joined the webinar, including students from Cambodia, China (Fujian, Guangzhou, Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, Shanghai, Shenyang, Shenzhen), India, Malaysia, Nepal, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Qatar, United Kingdom, and Turkmenistan.
From March 22 to 23, 2025, the Model UNESCO Student Coordinator Training, jointly organised by the UNESCO Hong Kong Association and the Hong Kong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development, was successfully completed.
