Webinar Series for the 2025 Secondary School Model UNESCO International Conference on Smart & Sustainable Cities Successfully Concluded<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The online webinar series for the [2025 Secondary School Model UNESCO International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Cities], jointly organized by UNESCO Hong Kong Association and Hong Kong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development with title sponsorship from Bank of China (Hong Kong), was successfully held on April 5-6, 2025.<\/p>

Centring on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), the event explored the theme of “Smart and Sustainable Cities” through multiple perspectives including UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Cities, carbon neutrality and innovative energy solutions, civil engineering, urban planning, and local case studies from Hong Kong. The over 400 enthusiastic participants from around the globe joined the webinar, including students from Cambodia, China (Fujian, Guangzhou, Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, Shanghai, Shenyang, Shenzhen), India, Malaysia, Nepal, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Qatar, United Kingdom, and Turkmenistan.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The event was honoured to receive support from UNESCO Headquarters in Paris to arrange for Dr. Alton Grizzle, Programme Specialist from UNESCO’s Communication and Information Sector, to serve as the Honorary Keynote Speaker. His interactive presentation on “MILTIVERSE Lighting Sustainable Cities: Youth Constructing UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Cities” engaged students to think critically about digital citizenship. Professor Karen Cheung, President of the UNESCO Hong Kong Association, joined the online session to express sincere gratitude to UNESCO Paris and Dr. Grizzle for their inspiring contribution.<\/p>
