United Nation International Day of Peace

International Day of Peace

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. Under the theme “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All” this year, the Day’s focus will be on engaging and mobilizing people to show support for refugees and migrants.

9.21 International Day of Peace, School-based Activities:

Since 2012, UNESCO Hong Kong has set its mark to celebrate “The International Day of Peace”. One major programme of such is the School-based Activities Programme, where schools are invited to launch school-based activities in the context of “Together for Peace” Typical “Peace Actions” include such activities as peace talks, sharing and promoting values of peace in school communities, particularly during the programme period, form 18 to30 September.

One additional feature of the programme this year is that participating schools are encouraged to organize in-house seminars on “Peace” basing on a particular ethnicity or country selected. As a show of support the UNESCO Hong Kong Association will send a representative of the same ethnicity or country to share peace knowledge and experience with students.

Schools will be recognised on UNESCO HK website with the submitted photos of the activities, and be presented with Certificate of Participation.
