我校於9月26日週會時段,向全校學生們宣掦「和平」這訊息。並提問學生,他們可以怎樣做到「和平」呢?就是「Think Win Win」和「Seek first to understand, then to be understood」,這是我們在日常課堂上常教導學生的思考模式。然後,全校同學需回家設計一張以「世界和平」為主題的書籤,優異的作品會於校內向同學們展示。

Discovery Mind Primary School
Discovery Mind Primary School (DMPS) in Hong Kong, has been an energetic supporter of World Peace Day since 2012.
Over the years, we have engaged with the pupils on topical issues: from children’s rights, the refugee crisis and this year the UN”s 17 sustainable goals. Running through each program is the theme of both educating and empowering children to make the right choices about their lives and that of the community but also making it memorable and fun! To ensure that latter, we always dress up in 1970s ‘peace, love and harmony’ styled clothes.
This year, 220 children across campuses in Discovery Bay and Tung Chung took part in a project to consider their “building blocks for peace” and they constructed peace pillars from recyclables.

To respond to the International Day of Peace 2016, the Guidance Team organized an activity for students. All students were told to write a message concerning PEACE on a piece of heart-shaped coloured paper. These hearts were collected, selected and to be posted onto the wall in the School Hall by 30 September. Students can read different messages of their schoolmates before morning assembly, during recesses and in the lunch time. It is hoped that students’ awareness of the World Peace is heightened after this activity.

Our school emphasizes on Cultural Harmony, so wearing traditional clothing to school is highly encouraged on Dress Casual Day. Students wearing bright coloured clothing, each reflecting their culture and where they come from. Different cultures coexisting with each other, promoting peace and respect between races.
In the pictures, teachers and I myself gathered some classmates who wore traditional clothing to take pictures. My schoolmates were eager to show off their clothes, as wells as to have this special day to be recorded.
